We all love the music.Roxy,Ferry,Eno etc.But I'm interested to know what you guy's use to listen to this great music.Dansette,Tower hifi,Midi system,IPOD,Seperates set up?I work in retail selling audio equipment and have a pretty good system at home...BUT what do you guys use?Are you bothered about fidelity or don't care as long as you can hear the tune?
Just a bit of fun!
Hi Lindsay!
You didn't tell us you were a (love is the) drug addict! You are a very considerate person by not annoying people with your music.

Always always always in the car-- when i am not listening to the radio! At home on a Bose system which is just the Dog's bollocks for live recordings and on computer which has two large tower speakers and produces a great sound.
In the office again on computer with pretty good 2.1 speakers--- no headphones cause often no one else there and even if there was they should be forced to listen.
Now share part of my office with a pal who has a merchandising business for bands and he plays stuff on computer through soundstick speakers so lot's of noise although I am not there that often.
Don't have an i-pod or anything like it as i am from the dark ages and a technological cave dweller.
The wonderful thing about the ipod is the songs shuffle, it just throws stuff up you have in your collection that you have forgotten about and just don't think to play. They are often gems.
NP:Wetton / Manzanera. Talk To Me. See what I mean.
the ferry has an ipod that he cant work apparently.has to get his sons to show him.not so cool.haha.
i love ipods, just got a itouch, but have always prefered walkmans!if apple and sony got together...yum.unfortunatly, apple being elitist as they are wont have anything else work on them.wanted the shuffle on walkman that does it by year.thought that was pretty nifty.
i still play old records too!love the crappy sound.
Hi Cyan,
Have you ever heard a good LP on a really good turntable and system?I can tell you now that they blow cd's into the dust for realism and sound quality.Trouble is most people use crappy gear and poorly looked after vinyl.I use a cd player at home for convenience(whilst doing chores!)but if I want to poor a nice big glass of something and get an hour to myself I'll pop on the vinyl and sit back and enjoy!!
Love Stephen XXX.
i tell a fib,it isnt crappy.got my grandads sony system.pretty well looked after. my father used to have a massive JVC system that was as tall as me!soo many different bits on.unfortunatly he blew it up on his 50th birthday party.fun times.had to get a record player to play my mum&dads vintage records.love abit of jnr.walker blasting out.i miss the joy of picture discs too!how nice are they!?i've stolen mums bowie one from young americans 'golden years' & 'can you hear me'.
Hi Cyan,
Yes picture discs are lovely, not the best sonically but beautiful items to keep and collect.I have a large collection of Marillion picture discs including both 12" singles and albums. The artwork on them is fabulous.I would mount them on the wall but my old trouble and strife would kill me!
Stephen.xxx
I have quite a few picture discs as well.......a few Ferry/Roxy ones, but I went through a phase in the 80's when I collected Madonna ones and have quite a lot of them...........my fave was the 'Dear Jessie' one with Madonna in a white dress wearing those 'Minnie Mouse' ears on her head!!!!!
I also remembered while I was reading the postings........remember those 'radiograms' from years back? They looked like sideboards but had a record player and radio inside? I remember the one my granny had for years, she'd play her Jim Reeves records on it........
hi stephen hope your well pall .. well i used to be into hifi stuff years ago i had or thought i had the best in my day . pioneer/awia/sony.philips/etc all seperates.. with my fave speekers i kept for years WARFDALE i loved the big 2ft monsters lol .. now i use my tv saround sound its not to bad ..and my kids got me my metro its good for my mp3 songs etc .. i know you dont like them lol .. but sentimental value from my boys lol .. take care mate .. mick
Hi Mick,
I'm fine mate. You ok? Wharfedale used to be REALLY good in the 70's and 80's.Made some great speakers.I used a pair called the Diamonds for a while. They were really small but had a great big sound! They were my first proper pair of hifi speakers I got after I left school! By the way, what's a "metro"?People seem to be happy with mediocraty when it comes to sound quality and prefer something pretty to look at and small. Not everyone thank god!Ipods are convenient and do perform well and there are some great sounding Ipod docks outthere aswell as some crap.I have one myself which I take to the gym, but for me it could NEVER replace proper hifi E.g. cd/vinyl.
Sorry to rant a bit I'm going now!
TARRAH! TARRAH!!
Stephen.
