Just been listening to If there something from Viva, Roxy Music .... isn't that the greatest piece of music ever ? 10 minutes and 37 minutes of Roxy at the finest , with great vocals from Bryan , and fab playing from , Mackay , Manzo , Jobson and Thompson .
There are many of us who would second that! I also think that Viva! has the best opening bars of any live album I have heard. The drumbeat start and build up to Out Of The Blue is just brilliant!
it's wonderful, isn't it? mind you, it's preceded by the best ever 'both ends burning' and followed by the best ever 'dreamhome' and 'do the strand'. a sublime twenty-eight minutes.
'concerto' wasn't bad either, especially the rambling opener 'manifesto'.
The version of "If there is something" on Viva Roxy Music was recorded in Newcastle 1974 methinks, I have heard the full version as the one on Viva had part of Eddie Jobson's violn solo edited out. Also what do people think of the version that was recorded for the BBC in session, that was way out!
Hi everybody, New here but an old Roxy fan, and I love this site.
You all might be into this podcast series of chats about Roxy...Alfred Soto really knows his stuff, the other guy is a little all over the place, but still enjoyable
Cheers!
