The Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music Social Network - roxyrama.org

Gang

In the vein of 'Now Playing', I thought it might be fun to start a thread of all the gigs we go to from now until Roxy Music tour in support of the new album.

I'll kick off and will provide reviews and stuff as we go

Tonight I will be bopping and jiving to David Byrne (Talking Heads) at the Colston Hall in Bristol. After that I will be at my mate's CD launch party for his band The Bird Architects.

And looking forward - Glastonbury and then Steely Dan on the 1st July in London.

In 2008 I went to see:
Leonard Cohen - 3 times, each was amazing
Imagined Village - Colston Hall. They're a sort of modern English folk collective with members as diverse as Billy Bragg, Benjamin Zephaniah (sp?), Paul Weller, Martin & Eliza Carthy
Billy Bragg - Colston Hall
Andy & the Metaphors - Exeter
Bryan Ferry - Olso
Status Quo - Colston Hall. Always go and see them once a year with a friend from work
Queen - Cardiff
Roxy Magic

So far in 2009 I have just two lined up:
Leonard Cohen - Liverpool *
Status Quo - Colston Hall

*Jim
Leonard's touring Euope again in July. So far he's only announced Liverpool 14th July and Belfast 26th July in the UK and Dublin 19th July. There are quite a few gaps still in the schedule, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if more dates get added to the list. Hopefully there'll be more in the UK

Well David Byrne and his merry band and dancers were just fab - I had forgotten just how intense some of those Talking Heads grooves are - the set was all Byrne/Eno stuff and included a very healthy dose of the up tempo tunes from Remain In Light as well as something from Bush of Ghosts and the Catherine Wheel. The new album songs sounded great and the whole thing looked superb with the band, DB and the dancers all in white - they even donned tutus for the encore.

Gig Rating (out of 5) - RRRR

Susan,

I checked out the young Dubliners on the web after you mentioned them. They are an Interesting bunch. Were they good live?
