The trifecta is complete. First Ed McMahon, then Farrah Fawcett and now Michael Jackson. I think Michael's death is the biggest shock because it was sudden and not expected. Only hope his personal life doesn't overshadow his prodigious talent and the joy he brought to the world through his music.

I have only woken up to this! I was going to sleep when I heard that he had been rushed to hospital and remember thinking "Oh Oh".

Many of us on here will be of an age when we can remember the impact of the Thriller album in clubs and in life in general. It was everywhere. He had a truly great talent but at what price?-- as he was a very troubled person.

I once saw Donny Osmonde give an interview where he described his relationship with Michael-- describing how in the early years they would go to one another's rooms to play as children after coming off stage. How they were normal children playing with games and toys and just being boys. Clearly Jackson was by far the greater talent but by far the more insecure adult. Donny Osmonde said that he would never have swapped positions-- even in the years where the Osmonde's were reduced to playing to 200--300 people in high school halls after their initial fame had waned.

I hope his soul and spirit are at peace and his family find comfort from the eulogies praising his talent in the coming days. His talent and music ratherthan all the other stuff should be his memorial.

yes Jim...lets hope so.

Life is so short, but a troubled persona seems to create such unique talent and lets hope he will be remembered for that. Go in peace....

I think it's worth mentioning that David Williams, the guitarist who appeared frequently with Bryan Ferry and who himself died earlier this year, also worked with Michael Jackson, including a contribution to Jacko's 'Thriller' - the best-selling album of all time.
