The Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music Social Network - roxyrama.org

I have not seriously considered seeing a Roxy tribute band - as I have thought just not quite the ticket . There is one I have heard about Roxymagic - which plays all over but does have some gigs in my area - the Midlands - has anyone seen them - or any other tribute band ? If so were they any good. Hope its not too heretical a subject - just curious. I did see an Elton John tribute - he was quite good. As Bryan and the boys are being sooooo slow in coming up with the new album and no tour in sight and Bryan with no dates in the UK - thought it might provide a a distraction.............

Well Mick obviously if there was a choice - the real thing vs a tribute there would be no contest --- but I do like live music and if there is a band playing nearby - and the cost is relatively modest - it would be worth the trip - just didn't want to be horrified by some awful would be doppleganger - will have a look at youtube thanks . I have seen Roxy Magic at the Diamond Club in Sutton in Ashfield, Nottingham. They were excellent and I am going again this Saturday, same place to watch them again. Highly recommended.

Marilyn, I know that there are others on the site who are going to the same gig-- sadly not me-- and it is for them to contact you if they choose so look out for some familiar faces maybe.

I have seen Roxy Magic a few times and they are excellent. I shall be seeing them again in May at the 'Square & Compass' in Somerset. They are all brilliant musicians and play a very lively set. I believe it had long been a dream of Kevin (the singer) to recreate Roxy/Bryan's music. Altogether a great bunch of guys.

They have a website, complete with a videos:

Hi Sue.

Roxy magic are excellent.I saw them earlier this year and as others ahve said they are quite spooky in the way they have recreated the sound and mannerisms of the band and BF. Highly Highly recommended. I volunteer at a music venue here in Milton Keynes www.stables.org and I'm desparately trying to get them to the venue. Well worth a trip to see them. You wont be disapointed.

Hey thanks everyone. I have looked at youtube - Roxy Magic and couldn't believe the sound. Looks like I'm in for a really good time!
Also checked out the website - what an interesting bunch of guys - especially amused by the Thunderbirds cartoon connection ( having been great fan when I was a nipper) BF portrayed as Lady Penelope's mystery boss - what a hoot.

Went to see ROXY MAGIC at the Diamond, Sutton in Ashfield last night. Great band, great music and a really wonderful night out. If you can't get to see the real thing (and it's looking like this year is a non-starter) then Roxy Magic are definately a great second best.
